A clever piece of writing which is certainly right to suggest that to put others down or demean them is inappropriate.

However, the reality is that probably the majority of the population and certainly at least half of it are either ignorant, of less than average intelligence, too lazy to use it, unschooled or inept in applying it or so conditioned that they simply follow the mass.

That so many believe in a 'God' or the inane fanaticism of Trump supporters are just two examples of the reality mentioned above.

Yes, Apple products have generally been bought by those who recognise that 'cheap' does not necessarily equate to 'good value' or by those who appreciate the philosophy underpinning Apple products and their inherently superior design, functionality and aesthetic appeal - and who have or have had the financial wherewithal that allowed them choice over their purchase.

I don't have the evidence to hand but I feel very confident that if statistics are available that relate the wealth and income of purchasers of Apple products to those of purchasers of the alternative products, the latter group would include a far higher percentage of buyers with low financial worth.

Of course, I don't discount the fact that Apple has always offered a more intuitive user interface which inevitably will appeal to the novice or unsophisticated user. I also agree that Apple does consider the nature of the average citizen, though perhaps not as well as it did in the early years, prior to the Macintosh, when it had very clear cut user interface guidelines.

I also agree that all people are deserving of respect as human beings and ought not to be demeaned for any lack, inability or ineptitude. However, to suggest that the 'masses' - whether washed or unwashed - display any significant discernment in their choices is, I suggest, a long bow to draw.
