I am almost that old and there have been continual wars throughout my life-time. Of course, perhaps you consider 'major' to mean 'world' but if that's the case then you are mistaken.

Your argument, sadly, also has unfortunate tones of ethnic stereotyping, lauding the 'West' at the expense of the majority world which the 'West' exploited for centuries and continues to do so.
