An interesting selection and trip down memory lane.
I doubt that this selection does real justice to the best Japanese sports cars but your enthusiasm is honest and clear enough and there's nothing wrong with that. After all, each to his/her own, as they say.
I was pleased to see the inclusion of the Datsun 280Z, though surprised that it wasn't the earlier 240Z which really excited and launched the Z series. For many, it was seen as the 'poor man's' e-type, (XKE in the US), though it wasn't in the same class in reality. Even so, I still have super fond memories of that model and, as a bonus, its effect on the girls of the time.
I also was surprised that the later 300ZX Z32 series twin-turbo not included. Although its predecessor was certainly a winner for Nissan and a good looker, too, for me the Z32 remains one of the best looking sports cars of all time with lines that rival some of the those from the Italian legends.
Thanks, all the same, for an enjoyable read. I am not remotely gifted in mechanical areas but have been addicted to fine cars, particularly sporting versions, since watching Jaguars repeatedly win the Le Mans races in the 1950's and observing the exploits of the F1 drivers of the time and later the development of the Ford GT40 and its battle to beat Ferrari's dominance.
I've never hat the financial ability to purchase any new car so all my exploits have been in used models or via borrowed drives and spectating at motor shows and motor races. All the same and despite some finding it, (perhaps understandabl), a silly preoccupation, the addiction has given me much pleasure and without, I think, too many ill effects.
Take care. Stay safe.
