As a male who is sad at the way in which women have been demeaned, controlled and exploited for generations, mainly as a result of religious doctrine influencing male conditioning, I welcome what you have written here.

I firmly believe that it requires males to actively seek to modify their understanding or lack of understanding of women by taking the time and making the effort to listen.

I don't claim to have been anything approaching the ideal male but I do attempt to inform my world view and understanding of women by listening actively to what they have to say, whether in face-to-face discussion, their writing or other forms of communication.

I have learned much but recognise that there is always room to learn more. However, something that I have seen as a problem in the way that some feminists have chosen to take in furthering women's rights and dignity, is that there are not a few who choose, in my view, to act in precisely the way that they accuse men of behaving when mistreating or demeaning women.

I'm not fond of cliche´s or old adages but it has seemed to me that acting in that way is something deserving of: "two wrongs don't make a right."

So, I welcome what you've written for, in my view, it is only though both sexes seeking to improve their ability to understand one another and work together to remove bias and prejudice and abuse. As you so rightly say, there needs to be rationality, balance and truth-telling - on both sides of our common humanity. We are all, people and we need to understand that such makes us of equal worth.

If I have it wrong, I'm only too willing for you or others to tell me so and explain where I'm making mistakes in my thinking.

Thank you for your article.

Take care. Stay safe. ☮️
