Thanks for highlighting this problem. It seriously needs attention, in my view. However, i grew up without any of it, not even television until I was 15 and even then barely worth watching.
Nonetheless, I became an early adopter but with a focus on the devices as tools, rather than entertainment, with the exception of the relish with which I took to new access to music that I couldn’t previously afford.
Even so, I don’t carry my phone except in case of emergency. l use my desktop mac for writing, finance and research but not a lot else. My Lenovo for MS Access database work — still the best, reasonable cost database for the amateur or semi professional who needs a true relational database — I only wish that a Mac version existed.
However, as time has gone on and the power and features of home computers grown, I realise that so has the degree to which it makes me moan.
My email which is set to bin junk mail — doesn’t. My smart tv is German made and reasonable quality but uses Android TV which, in my view, is appalling — a big mistake which I’ll replace whenever, (if ever) I can afford to do so. Advertising disrupts every type of program with puerile nonsense, often misspelled text or misused words, a complete absence…
