"he calls rape “an inconvenience” — and insists that abortions should not be allowed in such circumstances because “two wrongs don’t make a right.”

"he stated that if he had been vice president on January 6, 2021, he would have adhered to Trump’s request and blocked electors from states that voted for Biden. Furthermore, he has raised money for insurrectionists who tried to overthrow the government and sought to prohibit the ratification of an election in which all fifty governors — Republican and Democratic alike — certified results that showed Biden won the presidency."

Just what is in the minds of those who support Trump and Vance? What happened to those with real 'values' in the Republican Party? Are they really now *all* simply self-interested, compassionless, demagogues who desire power at any expense and without any scruples?

I find the whole situation unfathomable. I accept that although I don't chase money, (and don't have any), or fame or status, there are many that do and see those factors as indicating success in life. I had thought that we could disagree but still support some common and relatively universally accepted values.

It seems not.

A long time ago, this sort of attitude was known by the phrase: "I'm alright, Jack." - Effectively meaning, "FU", if you haven't got it together that's your fault - in other words, blaming the victim.

I must be very naive because I thought that we had moved beyond that and beyond any semblance of considering it reasonable for our supposed representative and people in power to apply autocratic, let alone dictatorial views.

Yes, either I am missing something very significant or I am extremely naive for I cannot see how any rational, reasonable and caring person who respects their fellow human beings, can possibly choose to support this assault on democracy.
