I can agree with your general point. The various Apple OSs have always been unique and worked with many differences from that of its competitors.

Only one of the irritations you mention is one with which I find any signficant frustration and that is the need to constantly enter my Apple ID & password when using the store.

As you suggest, for some of the issues you mention there are simple work arounds, quick and easy if one gives a little though to what the task requires.

Of course, many, if not all, of the changes you suggest almost certainly could be implemented if Apple chose to do so. At the same time, it may be that there would be security, privacy or other negative implications of making these changes.

I don't know about all the technical issues and am not a coder so my understanding in a technical sense is limited.

However, as a user, I have owned and operated Apple computers since the early '70's and had most iterations of its OSs and Hardware iterations. As I have also used many other OSs, many of which are now defunct, and within those have used DOS/Windows through its variations.

The one thing I do know is that, my experience with other operating systems, including the ubiquitous but confused and erratic Windows, has proved to me that the MacOS is currently streets ahead in almost every area where it comes to personal computers, is much more intuitive, facilitate ease of use and work accomplishment, is more pleasant on the eye and, frankly, for those who are not coders or competent programmers well in tune with development software and computer languages, it is a better system than any other for the average user.

As a major bonus, all software needed for most common activites is included with the software, upgrades and new versions are free and the hardware is both well designed and made which also leads to better long term usefulness and much higher trade in or pre-owned market prices than that of other producers.

So, thank you for your article. It does mention many good and sensible observations from which users of the Mac would benefit. I have no quarrel with your general comments.

Take care. Stay safe. ☮️
