I guess it depends on what you consider "worth" to be but I think that I understand why you would hold that view.

Both religion and politics, in my view, are topics on which the positions of people tend to be the result of conditioning and reaction, rather than reason or rationality. They are also both concepts which tend to revolve around 'self', if analysed to any depth.

The result is that 'arguing', in the sense of rational discussion, is almost impossible in relation to these topics. Where there is no real rationality or reason, there can be no objectivity. Where there is no objectivity, argument is futile.
