It is unfortunate that you feel this way. There are certainly many who assert the same or similar ones. It is unfortunate because such a view is an uninformed one that is easily disproved by even a relatively superficial understanding of human history.

In fact, those negative behaviours and characteristics that you attribute as predominantly, (if not entirely), to white males, originated long before the ‘white male’, (an, in any case, overly simplistic collectivism), was capable of asserting significant influence in the World.

Those “big issues” that you enumerate existed among “natives” of non-white races and empires that were pre-eminent for thousands of years before white dominance of the World. Indeed, you and those who echo your sentiments make a common and fundamental mistake in that your view is a particularly ‘white’ and ‘western’ one that effectively presents a concept of human history that fails to acknowledge and certainly shows no recognition of the existence of a huge percentage of the human race.

Such views in fact represent a common failing of western culture that has the arrogance, ignorance and insensitivity which you so readily criticise as being the particular province of the “white male”.

The reality is that many of those non-white races and cultures still exhibit the types of belief, organisational systems, and behaviours that most of us, including “white males” regard as anything from unacceptable, though abusive, to abhorrent.

If one actually puts time and effort into reviewing the history of our species, let alone studying it in any depth, the reasons for the exhibition of the characteristics you wrongly attribute, are not that hard to understand. I could outline them here but it is probably not the place and to do it justice would take far more words than many would be willing to read.

Save it to say that history shows your assertions to be unsupported and to represent an extremely superficial appraisal and a particularly negative one of human development and that of its various civilisations.
