It's probably not my place to comment as I'm not a USA voter. I do follow politics there, however, because the USA, regardless of what it does - rightly or wrongly - remains a leading, if not *the* leading nation in the World.
I admit to being bewildered that Trump could ever have been elected and even more-so that he is the front runner for the right-wing debacle known as the GOP. Old, yes. Grand - not so much, I think.
I do wonder what the Democrats are doing. They seem to be very quiet to me, though that may be because I only get to watch from afar.
It appears to me that Biden has done some good things, despite having lost a House majority. At the same time, I can't see him winning a second term if Trump remains his opponent - and given Trump's apparent ability to worm his way out of any transgresssion, I think it is likely that he will be the GOP nominee. (I must admit, too, that I am highly disturbed at Biden supporting Israel's genocide attempts in Gaza.)
That makes me ask, is there an alternative to Biden with a chance of winning against Trump. Despite feeling that you have probably summed up Hilary Clinton fairly appropriately, wouldn't she have a chance to defeat Trump this time? My impression from over here in Australia was that there was a significant amount of disappointment at her loss and that it was a smear campaign that did most damage.
Surely, no-one could be worse than Trump - or am I missing something? Even assuming that your antipathy to Hilary Clinton is valid, wouldn't it be valuable to have a female president at last - and are there any other women who might have a chance?
Excuse me, please, if I'm being inadvertently naive or ignorant. I have followed politics around the World for around 60 years of my adult life but claim no expert understanding. I'd welcome any comments that can clarify the situation for me.
