"macOS Ventura gives your MacBook a great look, and you must go for it."
I would caution anyone to be wary of the confidence you show when you make your final statement:
I had no problems whatsoever in updating to Ventura. I agree that it is certainly a good look and although with, as an Apple usual, some strange decisions, there are many features I like, the new 'System Settings' which replaces the old 'System Preferences', for instance.
That's the positive.
Unfortunately, since the update:
* I have had external drives not appearing on the desktop although mounted. [First Aid finding no problems & stating it had returned the drives to the state it found them - ie. mounted! They then appear.]
* Photos no longer importing from my iPhone 8, despite recognising it and showing its photos content
* Screen mirroring of regular channel (Australia) catch up services such as 9Now, Seven+, TenPlay and etc. turning to a blank screen as soon as ai start to run them or if I change to full screen mode. [I have been happily watching such services for the last few years on OS Monterey and, yes, my Mac *is* shown by Apple as eligible for Ventura]
* Other more minimal niggles such as my screen background conjoining with my profile image to produce a strange looking face that is an amalgam of my face [strange enough anyway] and an Eagle [which doesn't deserve to be defiled by the intrusion of my head].
[ Just in case anyone feels this is a gratuitous attack on Apple products, may I point out that I have used Apple computers since the days of the Apple II+ & have had models of all generations. Currently, I use a MacBook Pro and a Mac Mini. I also still have a working Mac SE. Yes I have also worked with most other OS's and a variety of hardware, both at work and home but have always found Apple systems to be preferable for someone such as I who has no technical skills and doesn't want to use command-line interfaces or wrestle with remembering coded commands, etc. - I sincerely wish I had such an aptitude and could move to Linux or whatever but I don't. ]
