Precisely: "For Christians, it’s been a lot easier. The Bible seems to be viewed as—whatever they write themselves."

Such is true of all religions which, of course, are constructions of human beings.

Given the number of translations and the various texts, fragments of texts, selection & modification of texts and holding back of texts, it is a wonder that any person of active intellect would give any credibility to any 'Holy' book of whatever religion or cult.

Yes, there are notions, concepts, precepts, ideas or what have you that many will consider admirable, including myself but there are just as many that can be considered obnoxious or simply nonsensical - the creation story itself, for instance or the paradox that 'God' is on your side and her side and his side and whoever's side, even if you all hold different views and are are doing your best to kill one another.

I find your analysis/reporting/commenting/thoughs or whatever you would consider them interesting and sometime even entertaining. I consider that it would be beneficial for them to be widely read and considered intelligently and with open minds.

At the same time, I would welcome a time when religion was only a topic of historical or anthropological interest because its hold on, manipulation and conditioning of human beings had finally been recognised by all as what it has been and is, a disease of immeasurable harm to humanity and had therefore become obsolescent.
