Some of those lessons may be learned from physical education classes. None of them necessarily will be learned. Just as many negative characteristics can be learned from such classes.

Physical education and sport ought to be electives in school, not mandatory. That some, such as yourself, revere such pursuits and gain from them does not mean that all will. The choice ought to be left to the individual. Indeed, it ought to be with all subjects but certainly with physical education. In addition, Athletics, contrary to your assertion, does not 'teach more life lessons than almost any other aspect of life."
