Thanks for the useful tips on benefits of Ventura. I have just updated to Ventura. Unfortunately, it appears to have many issues.
Since updating, when I try to mirror normal (on-demand Australian) free to air channels to my tv, as soon as I switch to 'full screen' all I get is a blank screen. - I have been using the same computer and tv to do this for several years without any issue. - Strangely, there is no issue if I do the same with a streaming service such as Twitch, which I use to watch the NWSL or Kayo, through which I watch Netball.
I also can no longer access safe-mode or restore.
Further, two drives I have that use Seagate Toolkit to work with the Mac, no longer show when I start up the Mac. If I use utilities/first aid, then they will eventually appear but the utility tells me that they have been returned to their initial state of 'mounted', even thought they didn't appear.
There are more idiosyncracies I could report and I have tried all the usual options to correct but to no avail.
Now, I am stuck because I want to revert to Monterey but can't because recovery doesn't work.
I've been using Apple since the Apple II+ but am incresingly frustrated with the speed of changes and the problems they create. I wish that Apple would rediscover its original concern for users over its (admittedly useful and often cutting edge) urge to innovate and keep ahead of the non-Apple pack.
I long for the older reliability and consistency of Apple systems.
