There is no rational accounting of right-wing ideology, particularly that of extremist fools such as Governor Landry.

Inevitably, it seems, just as those who insist that some books ought to be banned - yet have never read them, Governor Landry and similar preumptious characters show their own ignorance and probably could not recite the 'ten commandments' if asked to do so nor even explain how and why they are divided.

Not only that, but I doubt that they know that the Bible contains 3 different versions of those 'commandments' and that there are variously considered to be 12, 35 and 263, to my knowledge, and perhaps even more if biblical scholars are consulted.

Quite apart from this type of legislation being in breach of the Constitution, it is discriminatory and based on much translated, humanly recorded, and selectively reproduced doctrines of various churches for at least 2000 years and probably much longer.

Not one scrap of any of this can be verified or supported by evidence. That some choose to believe in particular religious doctrines is their choice - though usually not a conscious but rather an indoctrinated one. However, to impose the human interpretation of a particular myth or belief on others is both morally reprehensible and an abuse of freedom of thought, opinion and faith.

To enforce this on children is an abhorrent deed and defies all rational and evicentially supported notions of true learning and the inculcation of critical thinking - so necessary for our future and rational decision making and the recognising of false values and self-serving hypocrisy.

If it weren't so clearly the reality, it would be virtually beyond belief that in 2024, such false, despicable, discriminatory, absolutist and personal prejudice could be held by elected officials, let alone that such people could be elected in the first place.

The United States Constitution is one of the better of world documents and though it cannot be said that it has always been followed by US governments or people it has, despite its age and its contraventions, stood up over time as a worthwhile statement of how a free and fair society ought to operate.

It is sad, indeed, to witness what is now happening in a great nation, admittedly not without many flaws, but still one that has demonstrated fairness & freedom throughout its existence.

If the populist battalions, the Trump evangelists and the likes of Governor Landry are not put in their place and honesty, rationality and respect for difference put in their place, then there is no decent future likely for the US or the World.

... in my opinion.

Take care. Stay safe. ☮️
