This story speaks for itself. Unfortunately, religious belief, i.e. conditioned response and support of a code of behaviour and belief constructed by humans and using the supposed word of a mythical 'deity' to justify, promote and excuse their own actions.

Religion is the perennial pandemic. Only when humanity advances its understanding in the affective domain and recognises the divisive nature and false presentation of all religions as pathways to calm, peace, compassion, caring, and etc. will this sort of bigoted and simple-minded behaviour cease.
