US Hypocrisy to UN and the World.
This morning the USA vetoed for a 4th time a perfectly reasonable, indeed watered down to suit them, resolution on an end to hostility in Palestine.
They were the only member of the Security Council to vote against the Resolution which had had wide involvement over at least 3 weeks.
The speech which followed by the US Deputy Representative to the UN was such a mass of hypocrisy it was sickening.
The Delegate claimed that the US has been and is doing all it can to end the war and bring about at least a cease-fire. Let’s get real, do you end a war by sending billions of dollars of munitions, spare parts, aircraft and funding to a nation committing atrocities every day?
This man claimed the Resolution was not sound because it failed to condemn Hamas. He also claimed that Hamas ‘instigated’ this conflict. — How’s that for disingenouity? Even if we were to leave aside that, on the basis of Israel’s own figures, Hamas killed 1139 Israelis and took 251 hostages, the fact is that Hamas is the government of an occupied nation which under international law has a right to attempt to free its people.
No reasonable person condones the killing and abduction that took place on 7 October 2023 but it pales into insignificance as compared with the killing and imprisonment of Palestinians, Lebanes, and…
