Useful and informative post - I like it. Does remind me, however, of the difficulty I have in finding images that I can use which don't breach copyright or any other limitation.
I have only a pension for income & write for pleasure, not profit so my means are limited and I. need to use images that don't require payment and for which it is legal to reproduce them if I am not profiting from them.
However, although I often find lists of images that are designated as 'free' or 'copyright free', when I look at them, they almost always have an attribution to a newpaper, cartoonist, photo or cartoon site that sells or requires a subscription or a warning that tells me that they may be subject to copyright - often in contradiction to the title of the site on which I clicked.
I apologise that this is not directly on the topic of the usefulness of images bit if you or anyone else can provide an article on where to find images that can be freely used and/or pointers for how to identify images posted with apparently contradictory information, that would certainly help me and perhaps others.
Thank you, regardless, for a good article. I appreciate it.
