What I think is that this is an extremely confused and contradictory piece of content.
To compare the Internet with hardware manufacturers is simply futile for, without hardware, the Internet is unavailable. The same goes in the case of software.
The Internet is simply a means of transmission when it comes to it. In effect, there is no fundamental difference between it and the telegraph system, the telephone systems or even morse-code.
The reality is that the connection is only as good as the means to access it for transmission and retrieval at each end. That means comes down to hardware & the software that it is capable of using.
Yes, in the future we may have currently even unimagineable means of transmission & reception. I still remember being absorbed by "Dan Dare" and his ability to talk to someone using the watch on his wrist. It seemed entirely science fiction at the time, just as did landing and walking on the Moon.
So, yes, Apple is alert to the future and seeking to envision what it holds and, as a company with obligations to shareholders, rather than the idealistic dream of a couple of well matched and fertile imaginatives, also seeking to see how it convert what may come into profits.
That much is obvious and hardly surprising. So, I mean no offense, but what are you trying to say?
