Yes, Bella, not only disheartening but a savage indictment on the failings of humanity and particularly those who profess to 'lead' us.

However, sadly, all too many of the general populace are apathetic or too lazy to inform themselves and act.

In my view, only youth will have any chance of averting the end of this race. The student protesters are to be commended and are sounding a warning to anyone who chooses to look beyond the surface and heed it. Instead, in most places either the university leadership or the authorities or both, are arresting and incarcerating or otherwise punishing the students for standing up against 'might is right' mentality, hypocrisy and the placing of money over human life and health.

I am totally sickened by it all. I am alive only because I have to care for my only friend, Lennie, my Groenendael. Once he goes, assuming that I last that long, then I will join him for humanity today is a disgrace and has made a beautiful world a place of horror, hardship and despair.

(I should add that despite my generalisation in the last sentence, I do accept that there are many of our race, regardless of ethnicity, sex, education, status or whatever, who genuinely care and choose caring and compassion over self.)
