Yes, democracy has many flaws & what we now call democracy has even more.
I agree that there are many differing views held by people. I would be incredibly foolish or incredibly ignorant if I didn't.
However, it is a mistake to equate voting rates of a particular group with the election of a particular political party. That, of itself, does not mean either that the group held major responsibility for the election of a political party and certainly does not evidence agreement with the enaction of particular laws.
It is common for elected representatives or governments to enact legislation with which many of those who voted for them do not agree.
Indeed, it is not uncommon for promises or policies made before an election to be ignored, rescinded or reversed once their makers are safely in office.
