Yes, I am a paid member.
However, I doubt that that is a solution because of the nature of users of the two platforms. I think that, predominantly, those who user Medium, whether actual paid subscribers or not, whilst they may have a wide variety of views and beliefs, do actually value shared engagement and rational and fair discussion and propagation of information.
Facebook users, on the other hand, whilst certainly including some of those who choose to use Medium, are predominantly using the platform more as recreational and friend to friend contact device of a personal or group interest nature, rather than a love of writing, a wish to describe, display or comment, or a means to disseminate & gauge the feelings & attitudes of others.
I may, of course, be wrong about that. It is simply my view. However, if I’m right, then engaging in Medium would have little more effect than it has already — a very worthwhile & valuable experience but not one that is likely to engage mass audience attention.
So, I thank you for being interested enough to read and respond to my comment & I value that but … I can’t, in all honesty, say that I feel it helps me to reconcile my dilemma.
