You may be right that: " writers who don't adopt AI can be easily overtaken by those who do." However, what you mean by "easily overtaken" is unclear.

If your use of "easily overtaken" refers to the production of even more poor quality writing, as quickly as possible, with the main aim of generating money, then you may well be right, in fact, your prediction will probably eventually become right. However, if your "easily overtaken" refers to quality writing of sensitivity, impact, truth, unique style and perspective, rich vocabulary and beauty of construction such that it can connect with one's emotions, i.e. the writing that most of us value - I think not.
